What a wonderful pet you are.
You come to me when I am sad,
and you're never, ever far.
You've killed lizards and frogs,
And a fly or two,
but who cares?
You're still a wonderful you
With your jet-black coat
and amber eyes,
you're a prettier site
than the summer skies.
You're a nosy, sneaky little one
with sleakness and pride to spare.
The way you curve the tip of your tail
Adds an original flare.
I love you Mercedes, little 'Cedes,
So don't ever run away.
If God allows it, as I hope he shall,
with me you'll forever stay.
